What it is.
Hotjar built the session replay and heatmap tooling that 1.3+ million websites and apps use. It's now part of Contentsquare, which runs the product and the pricing. Signup goes through app.contentsquare.com, and no credit card is required.
The free plan covers 200k monthly sessions, which is a high ceiling for a tier that costs nothing. You get replays and heatmaps, plus funnels and error monitoring. Data retention runs 1 month, so review sessions while they're fresh.
Basic surveys come along too, capped at 100 survey responses per month.
What you get.
- Session replays, with 1 month of data retention on the free plan
- Heatmaps of click and scroll behavior on your pages
- Funnels plus error and performance monitoring at no charge

- An LLM connection over MCP, listed on the free plan
