What it is.
You give it a page URL. It scores each passage for citability, checks whether AI crawlers can reach the page, reads llms.txt compliance and looks for brand mention signals.
It works from Google's published AI optimization guide, which makes the recommendations shorter than most AEO advice: chunking content for AI search, mention-farming and llms.txt are all named as ineffective. What survives is work a CMO will sign off.
What you get.
- Passage-level citability scoring, so you know which paragraphs are quotable
- An AI crawler access check across the page and the robots rules above it
- Platform-specific notes for AI Overviews, ChatGPT search and Perplexity
- A myth list naming the tactics Google has dismissed, with the primary source behind each
- Findings framed as SEO fundamentals, which makes them easier to hand to an existing team
How to set it up.
Install the Claude SEO plugin, then run /seo setup once.
Call the skill with a page URL. It is user-invocable and takes the URL as its only argument.
Read the citability score first. It answers whether an answer engine could lift a passage cleanly, which is the part most content audits skip.
Check crawler access before you rewrite anything. A page no AI crawler can reach scores badly for a reason no copy edit will change.
Treat the myth list as a stop list. If an agency proposal contains llms.txt or chunking, this is the primary source that argues against paying for it.
Run it alongside seo-audit on a full site pass, where seo-geo is one of the eight agents that always spawns.

Use cases
Answering the AEO question
You need a position on generative search that survives scrutiny. Run it on the money pages; the findings come back grounded in Google's published guidance, which is the citation the room accepts.
Ranks but never cited
The post sits high in search and assistants skip it. Give it the URL; passage-level citability scores show which paragraphs an answer engine can't lift cleanly.
Vetting an AEO proposal
An agency scope includes llms.txt work and content chunking. Check it against the myth list; each dismissed tactic carries its primary source, which is the counterargument in writing.
Access check before rewriting
A page is queued for an AI-search rewrite. Run the crawler access check first; a page no AI crawler reaches scores badly for a reason no copy edit will change.
Best for
Answering the AEO question from your CEO
You need a position on generative search backed by Google's own documentation, and a list of things worth doing that survives scrutiny.
Auditing content that ranks but never gets cited
Citability scoring works at passage level, and that is the usual gap on a page that already ranks well.
Pricing an AEO scope
The myth list removes a large chunk of commonly sold work, which makes the remaining scope honest and cheaper to defend.
