What it is.
You give it a page URL and it audits the fold against three questions, then works through hero layout patterns, social proof placement, form design, page speed and mobile.
The three fold questions map onto three elements, which makes the audit checkable by anyone: what this is in the headline, why care in the subheadline, what next in the call to action. Hero patterns arrive with a best-for note, so the layout choice has a reason behind it.
What you get.
- A three-question fold test mapped to headline, subheadline and call to action
- Hero layout patterns with a best-for note each
- Social proof placement recommendations
- Form design, page speed and mobile checks
- A single audit pass you can rerun after changes
How to set it up.
Clone the repo and copy skills/landing-page-optimizer into ~/.claude/skills.
Run the three fold questions first and answer them as a stranger would. Anything failing here makes the rest academic.
Match your hero to a layout pattern from the table, chosen by what the page is for instead of by what looks current.
Place social proof where the objection it answers appears, not in a logo strip at the bottom.
Check the form separately. Field count and label placement move conversion independently of the copy above them.
Test on mobile explicitly, since hero patterns that work on desktop often bury the call to action on a phone.

Use cases
Pre-launch fold check
A campaign page goes live tomorrow. Hand it the URL and it answers the three fold questions the way a stranger would, telling you whether the headline says what this is and whether the call to action says what happens next.
Hero rework on a paid page
The page reads well and paid clicks keep bouncing. Give it the URL and what the page is for, and it matches the hero to a layout pattern that comes with a best-for note explaining the choice.
Mobile conversion audit
Desktop converts and phones don't. It runs the mobile check as its own pass and flags a hero that buries the call to action on a small screen, along with form fields that punish thumbs.
Rerun after changes
You reworked the fold last month. Run the same audit pass against the updated page and compare the answers, since the pass is built to be repeated.
Best for
A paid traffic landing page
The fold test plus hero patterns is exactly the surface a paid click lands on, and where spend gets wasted.
A page that reads well and converts badly
Layout and form design are the usual causes, and copy audits miss both.
Mobile conversion gaps
Mobile is a named part of the pass, which desktop-first audits skip.
