Keyword Research Skill

What it is.

Ours, and we sell the service it runs inside. You give it three seed keywords and a domain. It pulls matching terms, related terms and your existing rankings in positions 4 to 15, classifies intent, labels funnel stage, scores priority and flags quick wins into a four-tab spreadsheet.

Total time is under 10 minutes, against a manual version that opened with a 200-keyword export and a lot of reformatting. The detail worth copying is the positions 4 to 15 pull, because those pages already rank and move for the least work.

What you get.

  • A four-tab spreadsheet as the output format, every run
  • Existing rankings in positions 4 to 15, pulled in the same pass
  • Intent classification and funnel stage per term
  • Priority scoring with quick wins flagged
  • The same output shape whoever triggers it
HOW TO USE IT

How to set it up.

1

Start from three seed keywords and the domain, not from a 200-keyword export. The pull does the expansion.

2

Include the client's current rankings in the same call, specifically positions 4 to 15, because those are the cheapest gains available.

3

Classify intent and funnel stage inside the run so the spreadsheet arrives sorted, instead of being sorted by hand later.

4

Settle the output format once. Ours is four tabs, and a known shape is what lets anyone on the team trigger it.

5

Flag quick wins as their own column, since that is the tab a strategist opens first.

6

For an installable version of this job, Claude SEO's seo-cluster covers the grouping and OpenClaudia's keyword-research covers the data pull.

It runs inside client engagements and needs an Ahrefs subscription. The published account dates from April 2026.

Use cases

The weekly research run

Research that used to open with a giant export now starts from three seed keywords and the domain. The four-tab spreadsheet comes back sorted, with intent and funnel stage already labeled on every term.

Harvesting almost-ranking pages

Pages sit just off the first page and nobody is watching them. The same run pulls your positions four through fifteen, and those rows land in the quick-wins flag because they already rank and move with small changes.

Letting a junior trigger it

The strategist is the bottleneck on every keyword pull. With the input settled as three seeds plus a domain and the output settled as four tabs, a junior triggers the run and the strategist goes straight to the quick-wins column.

Best for

Research that gets redone every week

One settled four-tab output means the second run needs no reformatting, and reformatting is what the manual version costs you.

Finding gains on pages you already have

Pages in positions 4 to 15 move for the least work, and pulling them is the step manual research usually skips.

Handing research to someone else

Same input shape, same output shape, so a junior can trigger it and a strategist can read it.

Strengths
  • Pulls existing positions 4 to 15 in the same run, which is where the quick wins are.
  • One settled four-tab output means anyone can trigger it and the reader knows which tab to open.
  • Intent and funnel stage arrive as columns instead of as a follow-up task.
Limitations
  • Ours, and we sell the service around it.
  • It needs an Ahrefs subscription, which the open skills on this page avoid.
  • Built in Slate's visual builder, so there is no repo and nothing to install.
  • The published account is from April 2026 and our own version has moved since.

  • Skip it if your keyword process already has the manual step out of it.
