competitor-ads-analyst

What it is.

You name three to five competitors and it pulls their ads from the Facebook Ad Library, Google Ads Transparency Center, TikTok and LinkedIn, categorizing each one by format, message type and funnel stage.

You end with pain points scored by how often competitors name them, a positioning map with the white space marked, and a swipe file of headline formulas that feeds straight into ad-creative.

What you get.

  • Competitor ads extracted from four public libraries
  • Each ad categorized by format, message type and funnel stage
  • Pain points scored by how often competitors name them
  • A positioning map with the white space marked
  • Headline and copy formulas pulled out as a swipe file
HOW TO USE IT

How to set it up.

1

Clone the repo and copy skills/competitor-ads-analyst into ~/.claude/skills.

2

Name three to five competitors, and include the ones you lose to instead of the biggest brands in the category.

3

Let it pull from all four libraries. Coverage differs by platform, so a Facebook-only read misses the search story.

4

Read the pain point frequency first. The most-named problem is what the category has trained buyers to expect.

5

Look at the white space on the positioning map before you write anything, because that is the only place a new message has room.

6

Take the headline formulas into ad-creative, where the grounded inputs folder wants competitor material anyway.

Use cases

Scouting before you spend

You're entering a paid channel the category has run for years. Name a handful of competitors, including the ones you lose to, and it pulls their ads from the public libraries with each one categorized by format and funnel stage.

Finding the unclaimed message

Every ad in the category names the same problems. The frequency scoring shows which pain points are saturated, and the positioning map marks the white space where a new message has room.

Stocking ad-creative's folders

The ad-creative skill refuses to generate on empty inputs. This one produces the swipe file of competitor headlines and copy formulas that fills its source folders.

Watching for format turns

Run it on a schedule and compare against the last pull. A creative format that appears across several competitor accounts at once is usually working.

Best for

Entering a paid channel late

Reading what already runs is faster and cheaper than testing your way to the same conclusions.

Finding an unclaimed angle

The positioning map with frequency scoring is where white space becomes visible instead of assumed.

Feeding ad-creative

That skill refuses to generate without source material, and this produces competitor ads and copy formulas.

Strengths
  • Scores pain points by frequency, so the read is quantitative instead of impressionistic.
  • Covers four ad libraries, which is broader than a manual Facebook check.
  • Ends in a swipe file and a positioning map, both of which feed the creative work.
  • Uses only public data, so there is no scraping of anything gated.
Limitations
  • Ad libraries show what is running and not what is working. Spend and results stay hidden.
  • Coverage varies by platform and country, so absence in a library is not absence in the market.
  • Install is a clone and a copy, with no version manager behind it.
Skip this if
  • Skip it if you already read competitor ad libraries yourself.
